I really love that they adapted the difficulty for Cynthia at BDSP. We were obviously not that experienced back at D/P/PT to defeat her but they really wanted from us to re-do our childhood trauma at BDSP again by massively increasing the difficulty😂❤

This music makes me think of a trainer and his Gyarados reminiscing about their past, when the Gyarados was still a Magikarp. The trainer caught a Magikarp when he was just a little boy, and they proceeded to train hard every day since then. The trainer and his Magikarp were bullied and ridiculed by everyone because the Magikarp was so weak. But through all of it, they never gave up, and eventually the Magikarp reached level 20 and evolved. The Gyarados remembers its trainer as the only person who truly believed in it since the beginning, and deeply respects him. Other trainers are confused by how this ferocious beast known for its anger is somehow calm and gentle in his presence. But this trainer knows better. His Gyarados is no "ferocious beast" - it directs its anger and contempt only towards those who made fun of it in the past, and those who make fun of anyone (human or Pokemon) for perceived weakness. It can be caring when it wants to be. Unlike many other strong Pokemon, it can empathise with the weak, because it used to be a Magikarp and knows better than anyone how it feels. The Gyarados is pretty infamous, and a lot of people are scared of it. But it doesn't care what anyone thinks, as long as its trainer is proud of it, and how far it has come. It promises to protect and care for its trainer, just like how he protected and cared for it in the past. Together, they consider themselves "defenders of the weak." They believe that the potential for greatness lies within every human and every Pokemon, and everyone deserves their chance to shine. The music plays as the Gyarados thinks of where it was back then when the trainer first caught it, where it is now, and how far it has come. A journey that was possible only because of the unwavering dedication of both trainer and Pokemon. Training for years, and standing strong against a world that didn't believe in them. *"Trainer, are you proud of me?"*
